Punjabi Cultural Association was originated in 1991 in Brisbane. The purpose of Association was to promote Punjabi Culture, World famous Punjabi Bhangra Dance, organise Punjabi and Bollywood Concerts, to help Bollywood Film production in Queensland and Australia, to organise Punjabi Poetry and Writer’s contests, Punjabi Radio program. PCA also helps the new immigrants and students from India that how to integrate into Australian culture and expectations, so that they can enjoy peaceful and progressive environment this Young Multicultural Nation offers. Indian community is peaceful and successful in Australia.
Today we are about more than 1000 members of Punjabi Cultural Association of Queensland and more than 18000 Punjabi students in the state supporters of association. They always feel at home, when they learn there is Punjabi Cultural Association to provide them the basic help of any kind they need.
In Queensland our forefathers started to migrate in 1880 to help the sugarcane farmers and to clear the trees for farming land. With hard work and enterprise, now it is not uncommon to find Australian Sikhs in most walks of life and professions.Even in World War First on the behalf of colonial Indian army, 14th Sikh Battalion and Aussies fell together in GallipoliPeninsula.
